Backsplash tile is one of the highest-impact updates in a kitchen or bathroom. The scope is quick compared to a full shower build, but the result changes how the whole space reads. KV Tileworks handles backsplash installations throughout Seminole, Orange, Volusia, Lake, and Osceola counties, from simple subway tile to large-format slab behind a range.
We work on backsplash projects across kitchens, bathrooms, fireplaces, and outdoor spaces. Here is what falls under our scope.
Layout planning comes before anything gets cut. We mark the centerline of the space and work out where grout joints will land relative to the range, hood, windows, and upper cabinets. A backsplash that looks right is one where the cuts were planned, not improvised at the end.
Outlets and switches get handled correctly. Tile needs to run flush to the electrical box opening. We do not leave tile proud of the box or build up the wall unevenly around receptacles. Box extenders are used when necessary.
Grout joint consistency matters on vertical surfaces because variation shows at eye level. We use consistent spacers throughout and verify alignment as we work, not just at the end of the run.
Adhesive choice on vertical surfaces is different from floor work. We use the right thinset or mastic for the tile type and surface. Heavier or larger tile on vertical surfaces needs the appropriate mortar and back-buttering to stay put. Edges are finished with trim tile, Schluter strip, or mitered corners depending on what works for the tile and the space. We do not caulk a raw edge and call it done.
Backsplashes are the detail project people can see every day. You are at the counter, at the range, in front of the vanity. Rushed work shows at close range: uneven grout lines, lippage on large-format tile, outlets that stick out too far past the tile face, cut tiles that do not line up with the range hood centerline or window edge.
We take the time to plan the layout first, before anything is mixed or cut. That step does not take long, but it is the difference between a backsplash that looks like it was built for the kitchen and one that looks like it was installed as fast as possible.
KV Tileworks is owner-operated. James and Andrew are on the jobs, not managing from a distance. If something does not look right at the layout stage, we catch it before the tile is set.
