i. What We Do

A real bathroom remodel starts with the substrate, not the showroom floor. We tear out what needs to go, check the framing, and build back correctly. That means proper waterproofing on every wet surface, a planned tile layout before the first cut, and trades coordinated in the right order so nothing has to be redone.

We do tub-to-walk-in-shower conversions, tub surround replacements, full primary bath gut-and-renovations, half baths, and guest bath refreshes. We work in homes from 1920s Winter Park bungalows to brand-new Markham Woods builds. For projects that need more than tile — plumbing relocations, electrical, drywall, frameless glass — we bring in licensed contractors we've worked with for years and coordinate the schedule so it actually runs smoothly.

ii. Tub-to-Walk-In Shower Conversions
Walk-in shower conversion with proper waterproofing, KV Tileworks Sanford

The most common remodel we take on.

Tub-to-walk-in-shower conversions are usually requested for one of three reasons: the existing tub is rarely used and the space could be a real shower, aging-in-place concerns (no more stepping over a tub wall), or the existing fiberglass surround is failing. We handle all three.

The scope typically includes removing the tub and old surround, having a licensed plumber move the drain and shower valve where they need to go, framing the new shower opening, installing a Go Board or KERDI-Board waterproof substrate, building the shower pan (mud pan with Schluter drain, or pre-formed pan), and tiling floor-to-ceiling. Curbless / zero-threshold conversions are available where the subfloor allows it.

Most tub-to-shower conversions take 5 to 7 business days from demo to grout cleanup, plus 1 to 2 weeks of lead time for glass enclosure if you go frameless. Pricing typically falls between $9,500 and $16,000 depending on size, tile selection, niche/bench detail, and whether glass is included.

iii. Tub Surround Replacements

Keep the tub. Replace the wall.

Not every project needs to lose the tub. If the bathtub is in good shape and you want to keep it — for resale, for the kids, for the way the room is laid out — we can replace the surround alone. That means removing the old tile or fiberglass insert, waterproofing the new substrate, and tiling the surround walls floor-to-ceiling around the existing tub.

We can also handle tub-to-tub swaps: removing a dated builder-grade tub and installing a new soaking tub or alcove tub in its place, with the wall surround built around it. If the existing tub deck is tile and you want a fresh look — full demo of the deck, new waterproofing, new stone or large-format tile, and an integrated apron — that's part of the scope too.

Most tub surround replacements run 3 to 5 business days. Typical pricing is $4,500 to $9,500 depending on tile size, pattern, niche detail, and whether the tub itself is being replaced.

iv. Full Renovations & Licensed Trade Partnerships

A full bathroom renovation usually means moving more than tile. New vanity, new lighting, new exhaust fan, relocated plumbing, frameless glass, repainted walls and trim, sometimes a structural change like a knocked-out wall or a new linen closet. We're not a general contractor — and we're not going to pretend to be one — but we've spent years building a network of licensed Florida contractors who do this work alongside us on KV projects.

That network includes a licensed plumber for valve relocations, drain rough-ins, and fixture installs; a licensed electrician for new circuits, GFCI outlets, lighting changes, and exhaust fans; a drywall finisher; a frameless glass shop; and painters when finish coats are part of the scope. Every trade is licensed and insured in the State of Florida. We coordinate the schedule, the inspections, and the handoffs so each trade has what it needs to do clean work, and so the tile portion lands at the right point in the project.

For projects that need permits pulled by a general contractor (load-bearing wall changes, structural work, additions), we work with a few GCs in the area and can recommend one. We are clear about where our authority ends — we install tile and stone and coordinate the trades around it. We do not pull GC permits, we do not contract structural work, and we will tell you up front if a project needs more than what we cover.
