Tile & Bathroom Remodeling FAQ

Straight answers about tile installation, bathroom remodeling, materials, and how we work. If you have a question that's not here, call or send us a message.

COST & PRICING

Most bathroom tile remodels we take on in Central Florida start around $8,000 and go up from there depending on scope, materials, and what the substrate needs. A tile-only shower refresh runs less. A full master bath remodel with custom shower, floor tile, and natural stone can run $20,000 or more. We don't quote over the phone because the space and condition of the substrate matter too much to guess at. We come out, see the project, and give you a detailed written estimate at no charge.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
A custom tile shower in Central Florida typically runs $4,000 to $12,000 depending on size, tile material, waterproofing system, and added features like niches, benches, and curbs. Natural stone and large-format porcelain are on the higher end. A standard porcelain shower in a guest bath is on the lower end. Every project gets a written scope and price before we start.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
No charge. We visit the space, take measurements, talk through what you want, and give you a detailed written estimate. We respond to requests within 24 hours.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
No hidden fees. Our estimates are itemized, so you see exactly what you're paying for before we pick up a tool. If the scope changes mid-project, we talk with you before we move forward.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks

TIMELINE & PROCESS

Most bathroom tile projects take 3 to 7 business days. A tub-to-shower conversion runs about 4 to 5 days. A full master bath remodel is typically 5 to 8 days. You get a written timeline before we start, and we stick to it.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
Most grouts need 24 to 72 hours before light use. Epoxy grout cures faster. Before we leave, we walk you through exactly what was used on your project and when it's ready for use.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
Our schedule runs 2 to 4 weeks out most of the time. If you have a target start date, contact us sooner. Smaller projects sometimes open up faster.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks

TILE & MATERIALS

Porcelain is the most practical choice for Florida bathrooms. It handles humidity, holds up to daily use, and comes in a wide range of formats and finishes. Natural stone is beautiful but needs proper sealing and more ongoing care. We talk through the trade-offs during the estimate visit.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
Yes, in most cases. We like to review the material before pricing the job, since some tiles require specific setting methods or extra handling. Mention it when you contact us.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
Darker grout hides dirt better but is harder to change later. Lighter grout looks clean but shows wear over time. There's no universal right answer. We talk through the options with every client and can coordinate samples through our supplier network when it helps to see them in person.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
Large-format tile, 12x24 or bigger, opens up a small bathroom by reducing the number of grout lines. Smaller mosaic tile is well suited for shower floors where slip resistance matters. We go through layout options on every project before work starts.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks

SHOWERS & WATERPROOFING

A shower without a proper waterproofing system will eventually leak into the subfloor or walls. Once that happens, you're dealing with mold, rot, and structural damage that costs far more to fix than doing it right the first time. We use Go Board, Wedi, Schluter KERDI, or sheet membranes on every shower we build.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
Yes. Niches and benches are common on the projects we take on. We frame and waterproof them correctly so they hold up and look right. That conversation happens during the estimate visit.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
Yes. Tub-to-shower conversions are one of the most common requests we get across Central Florida. We handle the framing, waterproofing, and full tile installation from start to finish. We walk through the process in detail during the on-site visit.— James, Owner, KV Tileworks
